Michel Cohen Prize

Created by the AGAC Foundation in honor of Montreal collector Michel Cohen, founder of the Collection Montparnasse, the Michel Cohen Prize is designed to support young contemporary art galleries in the early stages of their development. Awarded annually, the prize enables an emerging gallery to take part in Plural by helping to cover the fair’s participation fees. The prize is designed to support up-and-coming artists in the field of professional art distribution, and to provide them with an essential showcase to make themselves known to the public, collectors and professionals in the field.

By donating, you contribute directly to an emerging gallery’s participation in the Plural fair, helping it to cover participation fees and other costs associated with its presence at the event.

Michel Cohen

Michel Cohen, renowned collector and founder of the Collection Montparnasse, passed away in January 2024. Passionate about art in all its forms, over the years he built up a rich and unique collection. His legacy lives on today through his three sons, who faithfully carry on his vision and commitment to the Montparnasse Collection.

“Michel’s passion for art and his dedication to fostering ever lasting relationships have left a mark on all who were lucky enough to know him. Collection Montparnasse was so much more than just an art collection to Michel. It was a form of self expression, a way to connect with people and clearly displayed Michel’s “joie de vivre”. Michel’s contributions to the art world and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind will be forever felt by many.”
