Since 1985, AGAC has been committed to promoting the recognition and prosperity of contemporary art in Canada. It has played a key role in professionalizing the field, developing collecting practices, and raising standards in the art market. These efforts have positioned the Association as a pillar for its members and strengthened their place within the artistic ecosystem.
Nevertheless, significant challenges remain today: economic pressure, limited visibility, and a financial situation that is still largely dependent on public funding. In response to these challenges, the Association has developed a strategic plan for 2030, defining organizational priorities in the context of a rapidly evolving contemporary art market.
This process, carried out with the support of an independent strategist, has made it possible to define clear areas of intervention, identify priority objectives, and lay the foundations for structural, scalable plans tailored to the needs of its members.
At the same time, AGAC has developed a digital strategic plan to complement its five-year plan in order to provide a framework for its current and future digital transformation initiatives. This non-prescriptive strategy proposes concrete actions to guide the adoption of digital technology and support organizational decisions. It aims to strengthen AGAC’s mission to its members, stimulate in-depth reflection, and position the Association as an innovative player in the digital evolution of the contemporary art world.
